The students who filed the petition, wanted to pursue MBA under the NRI quota and has challenged ASC when they were prevented from getting admission. ASC was stern in their decision and hence the petition was dismissed and the ASC orders were upheld. Further ASC also decided to conduct KMAT entrance test in Kerala in last Sunday of January every year.

The committe also decided to fix the cut off marks as 10% of the total marks i.e. 72 marks out of 720 with the ratio of 80:20:20 for the entance test, GD and PI. Since Karnataka also conducts an entrance test called KMAT India hence ASC decided to name KMAT as KMAT Kerala to avoid any confusion.
